How the Nitro Kart Klash went down

The inaugural Klash at Providence was Round 0 of the journey to this championship. 12 classes, GYD $10M+ advertised prize pool, one weekend, one giant statement.

1st
Driver of the Day · Klash 2026

Zachary Persaud

2 race wins (Briggs Senior Light · Honda GX200) + 2 pole positions in qualifying. Approx GYD $1.3M total earnings. Held off Justin Ten Pow under pressure after a three-way collision early in the Senior Light final demoted championship favourite Calvin Ming.

Senior Light + Honda

Persaud's double

Zachary Persaud took the headline Briggs Senior Light ($1M) AND the Honda GX200 promoter class ($300K) — plus both pole positions.

IAME X30 · 125cc 2-stroke

Jeffrey takes the X30

Kristian Jeffrey — veteran Caribbean motorsport racer — won the international-spec IAME X30 class with GYD $200K to the bank.

Open Time Attack

Ming's redemption

Calvin Ming won the 5-lap Open Time Attack despite getting collected in a three-way collision earlier in the Senior Light final. Pure pace, no luck needed.

Rookies Over 35

The promoter raced

Andre Rochford — the man running the whole show — climbed into a kart himself and finished 2nd in Rookies Over 35 ($65K). Skin in the game.

GYD $19.5 million / USD $97,500 in total championship payouts across the 2026 season, paid to season champions across 11 prize-paying classes (the VIP & Celebrities Arrive & Drive is exhibition only, no prize). The LO206 Briggs Light season champion takes the headline GYD $4M / USD $20K, decided on cumulative points across all three rounds and paid at the December finale. Other class prizes scale from GYD $2M down to GYD $1M — full breakdown in the class table above.
How do I register as a driver?
Registration is open at the official microsite — needforspeedkarting.gy/register. Select your class, choose your pit package, and submit. For questions, email info@needforspeedkarting.gy.
What classes can I enter?
11 prize-paying classes per the official flyer: LO206 Briggs & Stratton Light, Heavy, JR, Cadet, Over 35 Years Rookie, Female, and Veteran Pro Over 50; Honda GX200; IAME 125cc; Supermoto Senior and Supermoto Juniors. A 12th NEW CLASS — VIP & Local Celebrities Arrive & Drive — runs as a 40-spot exhibition on LO206 / KA100 rentals (no prize). Full eligibility rules on the official microsite rules page.
What is the mandatory tyre spec?
All drivers run the championship spec tyre — MG Red & MG Yellow, USD $285 per set — to keep the field level. MyLaps transponders are also mandatory. Tyre and transponder purchase happen through the official microsite ahead of each round.
What safety gear is required?
Per the microsite rules page: a Snell SA2020+ rated helmet, a CIK-FIA Level 2 or SFI 3.2A/1 racing suit, gloves, neck brace and racing shoes. Rib protectors are mandatory for Cadet and Junior classes. Tech inspection runs before practice on race day.
Can I ship my kart from the US?
Yes — the championship coordinates a shared 40ft container (20 kart slots) leaving from Miami, Jacksonville, Port Everglades, or Houston. Drop-off deadline for Round 1 is May 23, 2026. Per organiser Andre Rochford: "Customs is easy. No taxes for karts that are returning. Once arrived in Guyana — same or following day." Full container details on the microsite.
When does pre-registration close?
Pre-registration closes the Tuesday before each round. For Round 1 (June 21) that's Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Late entries on race day are at the organiser's discretion. Register at the official microsite.
What's included in the pit package?
A 10×10 pit-tent spot, one driver entry pass, and four crew passes. Free practice access is included for the 7 days before each round, running 12pm to 9pm daily.
Can I ship a kart from overseas?
Yes. The championship offers a flat USD $5,600 container shipping service for incoming karts. Contact info@needforspeedkarting.gy to arrange logistics before each round.
Are spectators welcome? Is it family-friendly?
Yes — the championship is built as a public spectacle, with VIP and local-celebrity Arrive & Drive segments designed to draw families. Confirm gate prices, kids' policies and on-site amenities closer to each round via the official microsite and Jumbo Jet Events Facebook.
How is this different from the April Nitro Kart Klash?
The April 18-19, 2026 Nitro Kart Klash at Providence was a single-event one-day meeting. Need For Speed is a 3-round championship series running across June, September and December — competitors accumulate season points across all three rounds, with the season title (and a share of the $19.5M GYD purse) decided at the December finale. Same promoter (Jumbo Jet Events), elevated format. See the April recap below →
Who are the title sponsors?
Rain Forest Water and Monster Energy hold the title-sponsor slots. Supporting partners include Jumbo Jet Events, AJM Enterprise, Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC), and 555 Speedway, with class-level sponsors confirmed at each round.
Who is organising the championship?
Jumbo Jet Events — promoted by Andre Rochford, who himself raced in (and finished 2nd in Rookies Over 35 at) the April Nitro Kart Klash. The series is delivered in partnership with the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) and the rental-kart operator 555 Speedway.
How do I get to Leonora Stadium for Round 1?
Leonora is on the West Coast Demerara, roughly 45 minutes by road from Georgetown via the West Coast Public Road. Minibuses run regularly from Stabroek to Vreed-en-Hoop and onwards; hire cars and ride-shares serve the route. On-site parking is typically available on event days. Exact stadium address details will be published by the championship closer to race day.
Will the rounds be televised or streamed?
Broadcast and streaming plans are typically announced by Jumbo Jet Events in the week leading up to each round. Recap reels and highlights from the April Nitro Kart Klash were produced by Pixel Perfect Productions and shared on the Jumbo Jet Events Facebook page — expect similar coverage.
Where can I see results and standings?
Round results will be posted to the official Jumbo Jet Events Facebook page and the championship microsite, with photo galleries by TRG Concepts (Pixieset) as used for the April Klash. 592Hub will publish round-by-round summaries and season standings on this page after each round.
What happened at the April Nitro Kart Klash?
Zachary Persaud was driver-of-the-day with two wins and two pole positions across the weekend (Briggs Senior Light and Honda GX200), earning approximately GYD $1.3M. Kristian Jeffrey won IAME X30, Paige Mendonca took Female and a third in Senior Light, and Calvin Ming won the Open Time Attack despite an early-race collision.
