The Name on the Flyer

Boyo, Dominic & Rakesh

The trio headline the official flyer — front and centre above the race title.

Guyanese race-meet convention frames a "Grand Day" name as either three patron-sponsors who underwrote the meet or three honourees the day is named for — both are common at Berbice meets.

Verification pending. No public press coverage has confirmed the trio's identities or role. 592Hub will update this page once the BLUTC organisers confirm. Local contact for the meet is Chandu, +592 672 0546.

About BLUTC

Why this club matters

The Bush Lot United Turf Club opened Guyana's first all-weather horse-racing track on April 30, 2023 — a quiet revolution for the sport in this country. Before BLUTC's surface, Berbice meets were chronically rained out; after it, the club has run an expanding monthly calendar with sponsor cluster J's Supermarket + Jumbo Jet AJM + Slingerz + Big G Lumber Yard recurring across nearly every card.

BLUTC's redevelopment was substantially funded by Nasrudeen "Jumbo Jet" Mohamed Sr., the founder of Jumbo Jet Auto Sales, who originally hails from Bush Lot. His brother-in-law Dharmindra Dharamjit serves as club president; his son Nasrudeen Jr. runs the day-to-day Jumbo Jet liaison. The "Jumbo Jet AJM" billing on the gymkhana flyer reflects this family-business relationship — internal cross-promotion, not arm's-length sponsorship.

This year's BLUTC calendar so far: March 1 non-promotion fundraiser (5 races), April 26 Subscription Races (7 head-to-heads), May 24 Boyo/Dominic/Rakesh Grand Day Gymkhana (this event). Province-wide Independence Cup entries opened May 9–26; BLUTC is one of the entry hubs.

The Berbice Racing Syndicate

Sponsors

The four sponsors who underwrite this meet recur across most Berbice meetings — effectively the regional horse-racing financial syndicate.

Slingerz Racing Stables is owned by Javed Ali, whose marquee horses (Olympic Kremlin, Olympic National) compete across Guyana and Brazil. Trainer: Lenio Roberto Vieira.

FAQ

Punters & First-Timers · Quick Answers

When and where is the Grand Day Gymkhana?
Sunday, May 24, 2026 at the Bush Lot United Turf Club (BLUTC), Sea View Park, Bush Lot Village, West Coast Berbice. Gates typically open mid-morning with the first race shortly after noon.
Who are Boyo, Dominic and Rakesh?
Their names headline the official flyer, indicating either patron-sponsors who underwrote the meet or honourees the day is named for. As of publication, this is unconfirmed by 592Hub — we will update once the BLUTC organisers (contact Chandu, +592 672 0546) confirm. Guyanese race-meet naming convention supports either interpretation.
What are the feature races on the card?
Four feature races: K J (Open), L (Open), L (Maiden), and 2-Year-Old Guyana Bred. Additional support races typically fill out the card. Final race-card timings are published by BLUTC and the Guyana Horse Racing Facebook page in the days leading up to race day.
Who is organising the meeting?
The Bush Lot United Turf Club (BLUTC), led by president Dharmindra Dharamjit. BLUTC runs Guyana's first all-weather horse-racing track, which opened on April 30, 2023. Operational communications route through the Guyana Horse Racing Facebook page — there is no separate BLUTC FB page.
Who are the sponsors?
J's Supermarket (New Amsterdam, Berbice), Big G Lumber Yard, Jumbo Jet AJM (the AJM Enterprise division of Jumbo Jet Auto Sales), and Slingerz Racing Stables (owned by Javed Ali). This sponsor cluster recurs across most Berbice meets — it's effectively the regional horse-racing financial syndicate.
How is Jumbo Jet connected to this event?
More than just sponsorship. BLUTC president Dharmindra Dharamjit is brother-in-law to Nasrudeen "Jumbo Jet" Mohamed Sr., who originally hails from Bush Lot. Nasrudeen Sr. pledged G$40M+ to BLUTC's all-weather-track redevelopment in 2023. His son Nasrudeen Jr. acts as the Jumbo Jet liaison to BLUTC. The "Jumbo Jet AJM" billing on the flyer reflects internal family-business cross-promotion.
How do I get to Bush Lot from Georgetown?
Bush Lot Village is on the West Coast Berbice, about 1.5 to 2 hours by car from Georgetown via the East Coast Demerara → Berbice Bridge route. Minibuses run regularly from Stabroek; ride-share and hire-car services serve the route. On-event-day parking is typically available at Sea View Park.
Is it family-friendly? Are there food and drinks?
Yes. BLUTC meetings feature food vendors, drinks, music and a festive atmosphere — they're a regional community day, not a closed-circuit event. Family attendance is standard; kid-friendly areas vary by meet.
What is the BLUTC all-weather track?
Bush Lot United Turf Club operates Guyana's first all-weather horse-racing surface — opened April 30, 2023. The all-weather construction means meets can run regardless of recent rainfall (a chronic issue at other Guyanese tracks). It's been the catalyst behind BLUTC's expanding 2026 calendar.
What other races are coming up at Bush Lot in 2026?
BLUTC runs roughly monthly meetings. 2026 to date: March 1 non-promotion fundraiser (5 races, organiser Kevin Ramlochan); April 26 Subscription Races (7 head-to-heads); May 24 Boyo/Dominic/Rakesh Grand Day Gymkhana (this event). Independence Cup entries opened province-wide May 9-26 — BLUTC is one of the entry hubs.
Who is Slingerz Racing Stables?
Slingerz Racing Stables is owned by Javed Ali, one of Guyana's top thoroughbred owners. Marquee horses include Olympic Kremlin (Guyana Cup 2024 winner, 2024 Horse of the Year) and Olympic National (won in Brazil, November 2025). Trainer is Brazil-based Lenio Roberto Vieira. The brand sits inside the Slingerz Family Entertainment group.
Will Slingerz horses be running here?
Likely yes — Slingerz appearing as a sponsor typically indicates Javed Ali is running stable horses in the K J and/or L Open features. Final entries and jockey assignments are published by Guyana Horse Racing closer to race day.
Where can I see entries and results?
Final race-card entries (horses, jockeys, owners, trainers) are usually published 2-3 days before race day on the Guyana Horse Racing Facebook page. Live results and post-race writeups appear in Kaieteur News, Guyana Times, and on Guyana Horse Racing's social feeds within 24 hours. 592Hub will post a recap here after race day.
Is photography allowed?
Yes — general spectator photography is welcome. Commercial / professional photographers are typically asked to coordinate with BLUTC in advance for trackside access.
Is there an entry fee for spectators?
Gate prices and any concession packages will be published by BLUTC closer to race day on the Guyana Horse Racing Facebook page. Berbice meets historically run a modest gate fee with children either free or discounted.
How can I contact the organisers?
Direct local contact for BLUTC is Chandu on +592 672 0546 (listed on the BLUTC Independence Cup entries flyer). For general updates, follow the Guyana Horse Racing Facebook page.
