The 4th Annual National Open Junior Golf Championship is set for Friday, July 3, 2026 at Westside Golf Course in Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara. Organised by the Guyana Golf Association (GGA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the championship is expected to draw hundreds of young golfers from schools and communities nationwide.
Players compete in Under-13, Under-15 and Under-18 divisions for both boys and girls. It is an individual competition with a school-team component — the National School Golf Championship Trophy — and trophies go to the top five finishers in every division, alongside individual prizes.
The tournament is a fixture of the GGA's youth pathway, run alongside the Ministry of Education's CSEC Physical Education golf programme and the NexGen Golf Academy. The Office of the Chief Education Officer has officially endorsed the 2026 edition and notified all education regions across Guyana.

A growing tradition
1st edition 2023 · now in its 4th yearThe series began with the inaugural championship at Westside Golf Course in 2023. It has grown each year — the 3rd Annual edition in July 2025 drew around 330 young golfers from five education regions, with Bushlot Secondary taking the national school title. The 2026 edition returns to Westside expecting hundreds more.
