Calypso Monarch

Winner: Quincy Lacon "Ego", 35 — back-to-back champion, defending his 2025 crown. Started as a calypso patron before competing, placed 4th, then 2nd, then won it all.

Junior Monarch: Simeon Raywaram, 20 — from a musical family, approaches calypso as storytelling.

Winner: Ernesta Nelson "Nesta Music", 35, from Buxton — an 11-year journey to the crown. 2nd OKC The Artiste, 3rd Alabama.

Soca Monarch — Feb 20, Linden Bus Park

The high-energy battle for Soca supremacy at Linden Bus Park. Adrian Dutchin was crowned 2026 Soca Monarch with his hit "Born and Grow," followed by Calvin Burnett in 2nd and Omaiah Hall (24, reigning Road March Queen) in 3rd with her track "Foreva."

Chutney Monarch — Feb 21, Albion Stadium

Indo-Caribbean heritage on full display in Berbice — dhantal, dholak drums, and high-energy chutney performances. Sonia Singh was crowned 2026 Chutney Monarch with her hit "Gilbaka Curry."

Mash Day — Everything You Need

The grand costume & float parade is tomorrow. Here's what you need to know.

The Parade

  • Date: Monday, February 23, 2026
  • Time: 9:00 AM — Late Night
  • Route: Vlissengen Road → National Park
  • Entry: FREE (all events)
  • Bands: ~28-30 costume bands + 500+ government masqueraders
  • Mash Night: King & Queen of the Bands judging returns after dark

2026 Theme & Investment

"Expressing our Culture through Innovation and Creativity" — the Government of Guyana invested a record $120 million into this year's celebrations, the largest in Mashramani history.

The Harmony Band by renowned designer Nelsion Nurse features a Guyana fauna theme with 75 revelers in vivid neon costumes.

Parade Route & Viewing Spots

The parade assembles at Middle Street, heads south on Main Street, east onto Church Street, north onto Vlissengen Road, and ends at National Park (southern entrance / judging point).

  • Square of Revolution — Best energy, highest crowd density
  • Lamaha to Church Street — Great mid-route views
  • National Park entrance — Final performances before judging
  • Thomas Road — Relaxed, early parade viewing
  • D'Urban Park — Family-friendly with room to spread out

Vending & Road Closures

Vending spots demarcated along Vlissengen Road from GWI to Barr Street, Kitty. No vending on the parade side — vendors on the opposite side only.

  • Road closures from 06:00 hrs — all intersections along the parade route
  • Merriman's Mall — designated picnic and vending area
  • No vending from Thomas Road to Carifesta Avenue

Cars parked in prohibited areas WILL be towed.

Security

The Georgetown City Constabulary and Guyana Police Force are deployed along the entire route and at key locations. Officers equipped with body cameras and Safe City surveillance cameras are active.

Commissioner Clifton Hicken signaled tougher enforcement for 2026 with zero tolerance and expanded technology.
