Portal Update — March 27, 2026
The official cash grant portal at cashgrant.gov.gy (or cg.gov.gy) is now live for online self-registration. Due to overwhelming demand (tens of thousands of simultaneous users), the portal may load slowly or experience intermittent downtime. This is a Government of Guyana service — 592Hub is not affiliated with the portal and cannot resolve access issues.
If you're having trouble: Keep trying, clear your browser cache, or call the national help desk at 501-5085 or 503-2977 during working hours. The portal will remain open — there is no registration deadline.

Overview
As part of Budget 2026, the Government of Guyana announced a GYD $100,000 cash grant for every Guyanese citizen aged 18 and older. This is the second National Cash Grant — the first $100,000 grant was distributed in late 2024, paying out over $60 billion to more than 600,000 citizens. Like the first round, this grant is designed to provide direct financial support to Guyanese households and stimulate the economy.
Distribution of the grant began in March 2026 and is being rolled out in phases:
- Phase 1 (early March): 48,858 central government employees were registered through their agencies and were the first to be paid.
- Phase 2 (March 26–27 onward): The online self-registration portal launched at cashgrant.gov.gy, allowing all other eligible citizens to register. Over 6,800 people completed registration in the first 24 hours alone. As of March 31, 26,639 people have completed self-registration through the portal, of whom 13,168 have already been processed for payment.
As of March 31, 2026, a total of 62,026 citizens have been paid, with approximately $6.2 billion GYD disbursed. Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh has emphasized there is no registration deadline — “there is no need for panic, the portal will remain open” — so citizens can register at their own pace.
The official registration portal is cg.gov.gy, where eligible citizens can register online, provide their banking details, and track their payment status. In-person registration is also available at designated centres across the country for those who are unable to register online.
Who Qualifies
Eligibility Requirements
Can Overseas Guyanese Apply?
Yes, but you must travel to Guyana to register and collect. Vice President Jagdeo confirmed that overseas-based Guyanese with valid identification documents are eligible for the grant. However, the government has made clear that:
- No overseas registration — you cannot register from outside Guyana. The portal uses a geolocator to verify physical presence within Guyana's borders.
- No proxies allowed — nobody can register or collect on your behalf. The government has explicitly stated: "No proxies. We're not tolerating proxies."
- No overseas payments — the grant will not be sent to foreign bank accounts. You need a local Guyanese bank account.
- You must be physically in Guyana to complete registration online at cg.gov.gy or at a registration centre.
Practical consideration: The grant is approximately US $480 / CA $670. Round-trip flights from North America to Georgetown typically cost US $600–$1,200+, so the trip would likely cost more than the grant itself. It may make sense to register during a planned visit rather than travelling solely for the grant.

Scam Warnings
Protect Yourself from Scams
- The government will NEVER ask you to pay money to receive the grant. There is no processing fee, registration fee, or any other charge. The cash grant is completely free.
- Never share your bank PIN or online banking password. The registration only requires your bank account number for deposit, not your PIN, password, or login credentials.
- Only use the official portal cg.gov.gy. Do not click links in unsolicited text messages, emails, or social media posts claiming to be the registration site.
- Report scams to the police at 911. If someone asks you for money or personal banking credentials in connection with the cash grant, report it immediately.
How to Spot a Scam
Be wary of anyone who contacts you by phone, text, WhatsApp, or social media claiming they can "fast-track" your grant or requesting payment for processing. The government distributes the grant directly through official channels only. When in doubt, call the official helpline at 503-2977 to verify.
